Every valley in Carnia starts here
Ovaro sits in the heart of Carnia. From the campsite you set off on foot, by bike, on skis or with a rope for a via ferrata, and in the evening you come back for dinner a short walk from your place.

The Zoncolan climb
Ten kilometres, twelve hundred metres of climbing and gradients up to 22 per cent: the Giro d'Italia climb starts right in Ovaro. It is the reason so many cyclists set up their base camp here.

Hiking
Monte Arvenis, which shows you the Gulf of Trieste on clear days. Col Gentile. Val Pesarina, 10 kilometres away, wild and silent, with its mountain huts. The lakes of Volaia and Bordaglia above Forni Avoltri, the Great War sites on Pal Piccolo, the Laghi d'Olbe towards Sappada.

The alpine dairy tour
In summer some malghe, the alpine dairy farms, open their doors to guests and let you taste their homemade cheeses and cured meats. The malghe of Zoncolan and the Sauris malghe trail are worth a whole day.

Cycling and e-bikes
Gravel roads, trails, the cycle path linked to the Alpe Adria route and loops up to 2,000 metres on the Panoramica delle Vette. Mountain bikes and e-bikes for hire, for children too, with guided tours by reservation.
Pockets full of pebbles and stories
Meadows to run in, the playground near the tents, the mine with a helmet and evenings around the fire: here children spend the day outdoors and drop off happy at night.

The former Cludinico mine
A few kilometres from Ovaro, wearing a helmet and with an expert guide, you step into the old coal mine and into the stories of the people who worked there. An adventure children remember.

The sports centre
Next to the campsite you find five-a-side football on artificial grass and tennis, both floodlit in the evening, plus a basketball and volleyball court. All free, tennis is bookable.

In winter
The Zoncolan ski slopes are 12 kilometres away, and Malga Navas becomes a destination for snowshoeing.
